Two new voices in Latin American literature: the Chilean Alia Trabucco Zerán and British-Brazilian Yara Rodrigues Fowler will be talking about their debut novels The Remainder (And Other Stories) and Stubborn Archivist (Fleet) with Literary South’s host Silvia Rothlisberger.

Alia Trabucco Zerán is the author of The Remainder, translated into English by Sophie Hughes, and published by And Other Stories. It was awarded an English PEN award, won the prize for Best Unpublished Literary Work awarded by the Chilean Council for the Arts in 2014, and was chosen by El País as one of its top ten debuts of 2015. She also has been longlisted for the Man Booker International Prize, 2019.

Yara Rodrigues Fowler was born in south London to a Brazilian mother. Yara was featured as one of The Observer‘s hottest-tipped debut novelists of 2019. Stubborn Archivist published by Fleet is a novel that mixes poetry and prose, English and Portuguese, while exploring themes of family, identity, depression, politics and sexuality.

Literary South is a radio show about Latin American and Spanish literature on Resonance 104.4 where this Q&A will be broadcast.
